Two Qatari boats seized in Iran's waters

IRNA Two Qatari fishing boats that had entered Iran's territorial waters were seized, a senior Iranian military official said on Wednesday.

Border guards in Parsian region, Hormozgan Province, seized the two Qatari fishing boats in Iran's water, said Colonel Ali Asghar Khorram, the border commander of the Iranian province said.

Ten people onboard the two boats were also arrested, he said.

It has been realized through investigations that the two boats had entered Iran's waters for fishing, with 400 kg fish being carried by them.

The case has been referred to Iran's judiciary authorities, the commander said.

Iran has 31,000 square km of territorial water, with 900 km maritime border to the south shared with the Persian Gulf and Gulf of Oman littoral states.
