IRNA – Iranian judiciary official expressed its support for environmentalists and rejected reports on imposing tight security measures upon them.
The claim of mixing environmental activities with security issues is false, Tehran’s Public and Revolution Courts Prosecutor Abbas Jafari Dolatabadi said on Wednesday.
He described the case of spying cell discovered in the country as a classified national security information, but said that the judiciary tried to publicize information in this regard to counter the enemies’ propaganda.
The official revealed new details of the spying by the US and Israel from Iran’s missile program on Tuesday.
‘The detainees… were gathering intelligence from sensitive and vital sites of the country, including the country’s missile bases according to the CIA and Mossad intelligence officers’ guidelines,’ Dolatabadi noted.
He said that the detainees have manipulated environmental issues as a cover to penetrate in Iran’s scientific society and install cameras in strategic sites.
The official said that one of the detainees has committed suicide while in custody.
