Iran President leaves Tehran for New Delhi

IRNA – Iranian President Hassan Rouhani heading a politico-economic delegation departed to New Delhi on Thursday at the invitation of the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi.

Several high-ranking Iranian officials including Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, Minister of Petroleum Bijan Zanganeh, Minister of Road and Urban Development Abbas Akhundi, Minister of Industry, Mines and Trade Mohammad Shariatmadari and Chief of staff of Iran’s President Mahmoud Vaezi are accompanying President Rouhani during his three-day visit to India.

President Rouhani’s visit to the country is made following the Modi’s state visit to Iran in May 2016.

While in India, the Iranian President is slated to hold talks with several high-ranking Indian officials, and both sides are expected to review the progress achieved in bilateral relations and also exchange views on regional and international issues of mutual interest.

President Rouhani is also slated to visit Hyderabad and receive Iranian nationals and university students residing in India.

The Iranian President will be accorded a ceremonial reception on Saturday (February 17). He will also deliver a speech in gathering attended by Indian elites and scientists.
