Appointing special rapporteur on human rights politically motivated: Iran official

IRNA – Senior Iranian official criticized the UN Human Rights Council’s anti-Iran efforts and said that appointing special rapporteur on human rights is politically motivated.

Appointment of special rapporteur on human rights in Iran is politically-motivated and unjust, Head of the Iranian Judiciary’s Human Rights Council Mohammad Javad Larijani said on Monday.

He said that Iran enjoys ‘an incomparable democracy in the West Asia region’.

The official stressed Iran’s commitment to promote cooperation with the UN human rights mechanism and expressed sorrow over certain countries’ efforts to undermine it.

He said that the UN Human Rights Council is manipulated by certain states for their political purposes.
