Prosecutor general orders special pursuance of Samsung insulting move

IRNA - Iran's Prosecutor General Mohammad Jafar Montazeri has ordered to urgently pursue Samsung insulting move toward Iranian Olympians.

The order reads that following the insulting move of Samsung towards the Iranian athletes who are representing the great nation of Iran and given the huge interest it earns from Iran's lucrative market, it is essential to summon director of Sumsung at the earliest and launch a probe into the case.

The order stressed that if the company does not take action to make up for the spiritual damage in proportionate to the insulting order, it will surely be introduced to the general and revolutionary preliminary courts.

Montazeri has also ordered his deputy to brief him about the actions taken to that effect.

Iranian and North Korean athletes at the PyeongChang Winter Olympics did not receive high-end Samsung smartphones handed out to their fellow competitors because of UN sanctions.

The disrespectful move which is in contrast with the spirit of Olympics met with a wave of protests inside the country, as Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif threatened the South Korean company that he will change brand of his cell phone if the company does not apologize for its insulting behavior.

Later, International Olympic Committee apologized Iran for the unprofessional behavior towards Iranian athletes at the Olympic Winter Games in PyeongChang 2018.

'Deputy Head of International Olympics Committee and head of the PyeongChang 2018 Winter Games in separate letters to President of National Olympic Committee of the Islamic Republic of Iran Reza Salehi Amiri expressed regret over the unfair distribution of cellphones among athletes,' Iran's National Olympics Committee announced on Friday.
