Commander: Israeli navy no rival to Iran

FNA- Iranian Navy Commander Rear Admiral Hossein Khanzadi underlined that the country's warships have made a voyage through the Suez Canal without showing care for the Israeli naval forces present in the region.

"We had done some calculations for going through the Suez Canal and dont attach any importance to the Zionist regime's naval forces as they dont have the capability to confront us," Rear Admiral Khanzadi said on Tuesday, elaborating on the mission that was conducted several years ago.

"Our naval forces passed through that region honorably and today, we are preparing for presence in the Atlantic Ocean and the Gulf of Mexico," he added.

Rear Admiral Khanzadi underscored that Iran is entitled to deploy its warships in any parts of international waters, adding that the Iranian vessels will berth in the friendly South American states after presence in the Atlantic Ocean.

In relevant remarks early in December, Rear Admiral Khanzadi announced that the country's fleet of warships will be sent to the international waters near the US in the next Iranian year (to start on March 21).

"The Navy's fleet of warships will move towards the Gulf of Mexico in the first half of the next year," Rear Admiral Khanzadi said.

He added that the Iranian warships will berth in a number of friendly states in the Gulf of Mexico.

"The names of these ports have been specified but will be announced in the future," Rear Admiral Khanzadi said.

The Navy commander had also late in November announced that his country is serious about sending its fleet of warships to Latin America and the Gulf of Mexico despite the US opposition.

"We are not faced with any restriction for deploying in the seas, and anywhere we feel that we have interests to develop ties we will certainly deploy there and we enjoy this power too," Rear Admiral Khanzadi said.

"We will berth in the friendly states in Latin America and the Gulf of Mexico in the near future by deployment in the Atlantic Ocean," he added.

"The Americans had somewhere said that the Iranians cannot sail 9,000 miles from Bandar Abbas to the Gulf of Mexico, given their capabilities, but we will certainly prove them this capability and will contact our friends (in Latin America)," Rear Admiral Khanzadi underlined.
