IRNA � Head of foreign relations committee of European Parliament (EP) David Mc Allister said on Wednesday that EP strongly supports Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).


He made the remarks in meeting with Head of Iranian parliament's national security and foreign policy commission Alaeddin Boroujerdi in Brussels.

McAllister said EP believes special importance for cooperation with Iran and added that 'I will travel to Tehran soon to continue talks'.

Such talks may create more understanding and strengthen common points of mutual cooperation, McAllister said.

Boroujerdi said Iran believes in expansion of cooperation with European states within the framework of reciprocal interests and respect, and added that Iran is ready to take bigger steps in this concern.

It is time for Europe to take decision upon its own interests independent from the US and its repeated opposition with anti-JCPOA policies of Trump are good signs of imposing such policy.

Boroujerdi said Iran firmly opposes weapons of mass destruction, especially atomic ones, so the only way for its strategic policy on deterrence power against possible enemy invasion is its missile capabilities, which is not negotiable at all with any other country.

He said that the fight against ominous phenomenon of terrorism is common ground for cooperation between Iran with many other countries like European Union.

The latest developments in West Asia region and ways to bolster cooperation and exchanging views with EP were discussed in the meeting.
