Iran to send frogmen to search for Sanchi sailors

IRNA – The spokesman for National Iranian Tanker Company expressed readiness for dispatching frogmen to search for the dead bodies of the sailors killed in Iranian oil tanker inferno.

The frogmen are supposed to search the back part of the tanker, Mohsen Bahrami told the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) on Wednersday.

Commenting on the conditions of the robots which were dispatched to Sanchi current location, he said that they just investigated the 35-meter hole inside tanker’s body.

Due to bad weather condition, there are some problems for the robot, he added.

Elaborating on the latest conditions of the three discovered bodies, Bahrami said one of them has been identified but we have to wait for China to announce it publicly.

The black box of the Iranian sunken oil tanker was opened in the presence of representatives from the involved countries on Wednesday, Iran consul general to Shanghai Alireza Irvash earlier said.

“The analyzing procedure will take time and will have to be carried out with accuracy,” he added.

A sum of 30 Iranian and two Bangladeshi sailors, who were all crew members of the Sanchi crew, were killed because of the toxic gases and the huge fire which embraced the tanker after the ship collided with a Chinese freighter in the East China Sea on Jan 6.

All the rescue efforts were in vain and the oil tanker sank on January 14.
