Iran condemns deadly terrorist attack in Libya’s Benghazi

Tasnim – Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qassemi strongly condemned a double car bombing in Libya’s northern city of Benghazi that killed dozens of “innocent” people and injured many others.

In a statement on Wednesday, Qassemi decried the terrorist attack and expressed his sympathy to the bereaved families of the victims of the tragic incident.

“Unbridled terrorism” that is still targeting human beings after its shameful defeats in the Middle East region necessitates global cooperation to counter the phenomenon, the spokesman stressed.

At least 33 people were killed and 71 others were injured in the attack in Libya's Benghazi, local media reported on Wednesday.

Two car bombs were detonated with an interval of 30 minutes, Al Arabiya broadcaster reported. The incident occurred near a mosque in Benghazi's central neighborhood on Tuesday night, when the worshipers were leaving the mosque.

According to the report, Brigadier Mahdi Falah, the counter-espionage director at Libyan Intelligence, was among those injured by the blast.
