Light quake jolts western Iran

 IRNA – An earthquake measuring 4.5 on Richter scale rocked Lumar in the western province of Ilam at 7:15 hours local time (03: 45 GMT) on Tuesday.

According to the Seismological Center affiliated to the Institute of Geophysics of Tehran University, the epicenter of the quake was registered at 46.82 degrees longitude and 33.52 degrees latitude at the depth of 9 kilometers underground.

No casualties or property damage have been reported.

Iran sits astride several major faults in the earth’s crust and is prone to frequent earthquakes, many of which have been devastating.
