Senior Iranian officials censures Trump's support of rioters

January 6, The Iran Project - The administration of US President Donald Trump is considering imposing more sanctions against Iran, says a senior State Department official, as Washington ratchets up its rhetoric in support of sporadic riots in parts of the country.

Andrew Peek, the deputy assistant secretary of state for Iraq and Iran, said this week that White House was weighing a reaction to the recent wave of deadly unrest that has killed over a dozen Iranians.

The move was strongly censured by several Iranian officials including Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Major General Mohammad Ali Jafari, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, Irans Ambassador to the United Nations Gholam Ali Khoshroo, stressing that foreign countries, Trump in particular, is hyping up the unrest.
According to Commander Jaffari, the US, Zionists and Al Saud have ordered a number of offense teams of the Daesh terrorist group to enter Iran for acts of sabotage and blasts, but stressed that Iran has gotten all of those attack teams under control.

Meanwhile, Zarif scorned Trumps fake support for the Iranian people, saying Trump has not only insulted them, but also made moves to deprive them from the benefits of the JCPOA.

Trump has an odd way of showing such respect for Iranians: from labeling them a terrorist nation & banning them from visiting the US, to petty insults on the name of the Persian Gulf, Zarif wrote on his Twitter account.

In the meantime, Khoshroo slammed the US governments recent wide-ranging attempts to intervene in the domestic affairs of the Islamic Republic.

In the past several days, the US administration, led by the US president, has stepped up its acts of intervention in a grotesque way in Irans internal affairs under the pretext of providing support for sporadic protests in the country, Khoshroo said in a letter to the UN Security Council and to UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres.

On Tuesday (Jan 2), Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei highlighted the role of enemies in the recent events in Iran, saying the adversaries have employed various tools at their disposal, including money, weapon, politics and security organizations, to harm the Islamic Republic.
