Carpet export from Iran's Markazi Province hit $1m

IRNA - Over one million dollars worth of hand-woven carpets have been exported from western Markazi Province during the nine months of the current calendar year (started March 21), a local official said on Saturday.


The Iranian hand-woven carpets were mainly exported to US, Germany, Italy, Japan, China and India, Deputy Head of Markazi Province Industry, Mine and Trade Organization Jafar Asghari told IRNA.

He said that over 12,000-15,000 square meters of carpet were woven in the period and that over $1.4 million worth of hand-woven carpets were exported last year.

Iranian National Carpet Center has recently announced that the Islamic Republic has exported $270 million worth of hand-woven carpets during the eight months of the current calendar year.

The figure was 31 percent higher compared to the same period the previous year.

The Iranian hand-woven carpets were mainly exported to 29 destinations, including 13 Asian, 11 European and four American countries.
