Algeria keen on attending Tehran OIC parliamentary summit: Speaker

IRNA - Speaker of the Algerian Parliament Abdulkadir bin Salih said that his country is seriously considering participation in the upcoming meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in Tehran.

He made the remarks upon receiving an invitation message from his Iranian counterpart Ali Larijani for the summit of OIC parliament speakers in a meeting with Iran's Ambassador to Algeirs Reza Ameri on Thursday.

Palestine should be a priority to the Muslim world, and all the Palestinians should try to enhance their unity so that the Muslims can help them more than before, Salih said.

Referring to Quds as a holy city respected both by Muslims and other divine religions, he said that recognizing the city as the capital of the Zionist regime of Israel by the US is unacceptable.

Trump on December 6 announced that he will move the US embassy from Tel Aviv to Al Quds(Jerusalem). The decision prompted strong global condemnation.

At the meeting, both sides also explored ways of boosting bilateral parliamentary relations, including the issue of friendship groups.

The 13th summit of the OIC parliament speakers will be held on January 16-17 in Tehran.
