Two consecutive quakes jolt SE Iran

IRNA - An earthquake measuring 4.7 on Richter scale jolted Kuhbanan in Kerman province on Monday while another quake had shaken the area just minutes before it.

According to the Seismological Center of the Geophysics Institute of Tehran University, the tremor occurred at 8:55 hours local time (5:25 GMT) in an area located at 31.39 degrees latitude and 56.27 degrees longitude and in the depth of 6 km underground.

The first tremor measuring 4.4 on Richter scale shook the area at 8:45 hours local time (5:15 GMT).

There is no immediate report on possible casualties or damage.
