Observer on US threats of Anti-Iran coalition: 'We've heard about it since 1979'

Sputnik - Washington has warned Iran that it will build an "international coalition" against Tehran after presenting what it said was proof of Iranian-made weapons deliveries to Yemen. Speaking to Sputnik, Iranian political observer Ali Reza Rezahah said his country has been hearing similar, baseless threats and accusations from the US for decades.

At a press conference ina military hangar outsideWashington, DC onThursday infront ofwhat she said were remnants ofIranian-made missiles systems used againstthe Saudi-led coalition bythe Houthi rebels, US UN Ambassador Nikki Haley said that the United States would respond toIran's "aggression" and support for "terrorist groups" withthe creation ofa new international coalition.

"In this warehouse is concrete evidence ofillegal Iranian weapons proliferation gathered fromdirect military attacks onour partners inthe region," Haley said. "You will see us build a coalition toreally push back againstIran and what they're doing," the ambassador warned.

Asked tocomment, Dr. Ali Reza Rezahah, a political observer toIran's Spiritual Leader atthe Analytical Expert Center, toldSputnik Persianthat he didn't hear anything new inHaley's remarks.
"The threats coming fromNikki Haley againstIran are nothing new," the observer said. Similar slogans have been voiced byTrump and bythe Obama administration. Moreover, we've been hearing such accusations regularly since1979 and the victory ofthe Islamic Revolution."

Furthermore, Rezahah noted, "after the invasion ofIraq and the revelation ofthe spuriousness oftheir claims aboutthe presence ofweapons ofmass destruction, the US has no right toaccuse anyone ofviolating international security, because they themselves have lost all credibility and trust."

"For the international political elite, it has long become obvious that the US uses methods such asthe falsification ofevidence, and makes groundless accusations againstcountries they dislike toaccuse them ofvarious 'crimes' topromote their foreign agenda," the expert added.
As forHaley's remarks abouta new anti-Iranian coalition, Rezahah recalled that the US has taken tothis practice multiple times before. "The US has done everything intheir power tocreate a number ofdifficulties forIran. Specifically, they've created a variety ofcoalitions. Therefore, Nikki Haley did not say anything new. Before this, the US already created its anti-Iranian alliances," including the so-called Saudi-American-Israeli bloc and Washington's alliances withvarious countries inthe Persian Gulf.

In any case, the analyst emphasized that Iran's foreign policy "is not mirror-like. What does this mean? It means that we are not going toreact aggressively toevery single US scheme and lie. Iran's strategy onthis issue is based exclusively onthe principles enshrined inour constitution: assistance tooppressed peoples, and working tocreate stability and peace inIran and inthe countries ofthe region. Any participation byIran inthe settlement ofcrises inneighboring countries has been based exclusively onthese principles, and not onthose claimed byNicky Haley. Iranian policy inSyria is a vivid example."
In that conflict too, Rezahah recalled, the US accused Tehran ofeverything underthe sun. "But time has shown the opposite. Today, even Western powers can't deny the significant and constructive role played byIran insettling the Syrian crisis and inthe fight againstterrorism inthat country." Moreover, he said, Western analysts and media have recognized the failure oftheir own countries' policy, including direct US support forIslamist terrorists inSyria. "In this context, tonow hear such accusations fromNikki Haley [toward Iran] simply sounds ridiculous."

"As forYemen, Iran has repeatedly stated that it provides and will provide support, particularly humanitarian assistance. If necessary, Iran is ready toprovide military advisers toparticipate inmilitary operations toassist the oppressed Yemeni people. But here's the key point: whatever incident may occur inour region, it does not mean that it was Iran's fault," the expert concluded.
