Effective implementation of JCPOA in constructive climate stressed in Vienna

IRNA – Participants of the regular Joint Commission of JCPOA in a statement on Wednesday welcomed Iran’s full adherence to its commitments under the 2015 nuclear deal, stressing the need for its effective implementation in a constructive atmosphere.

The statement which was released by the European Union’s spokesperson reads that the regular meeting of the Joint Commission of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) was held in Vienna on December 13, the seventh since the deal came into force on January 16, 2016.

Based on provisions of the JCPOA, Joint Commission is tasked with overseeing implementation of the nuclear deal.

The meeting attended by representatives from 5+1 Group at the level of political directors and deputy ministers was chaired by Secretary General of European External Action Service (EEAS) Helga Schmidt who also attended the meeting as a representative to the EU Foreign Policy chief Federica Mogherini.

The statement added that the meeting provided an opportunity for dealing with implementation of the JCOPA from the angle of nuclear commitments.

Participants of the meeting welcomed the fact that the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), a body in charge of overseeing and verifying Iran’s nuclear commitments under the deal, has in its latest report has once again confirmed Iran’s complete compliance with its obligations based on the nuclear deal.
IAEA has recently released its ninth report verifying Iran’s adherence to its nuclear commitments.
The statement further noted that the JCPOA Joint Commission participants have widely reviewed the process regarding removal of sanctions in light of the meeting of executive working group of lifting sanctions one day earlier (December 12).

They have also stressed the need for keeping up lifting sanctions to clear the way for benefiting from the deal.

The Joint Commission final statement also dealt with the implementation of the JCPOA’s third annexation regarding the peaceful nuclear cooperation and welcomed all seminars which had been held by the nuclear deal parties to support the historic agreement.
