Iran FM: Nulcear deal 'best we could have reached'

Iran FM: Nulcear deal
IRNA Foreign Minister of Iran Mohammad Javad Zarif said on Thursday that the 2015 nuclear deal, officially known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), 'is not what we want ...but what we could achieve.'

The JCPOA 'is a balance, it's not what we want, it's not what the US wants or what Europe wants. It's what we could achieve. That's the beauty of it.

'There are others who think they can come in and negotiate something far better. I can assure you it's the best deal we could have reached or will be able to reach,' Zarif said while addressing the third edition of the of the Rome Med conference in the Italian capital on Thursdday.

He said that the anti-Iran sanctions and foreign pressures on Iran prompted the country to rely on its domestic resources and public convergence.

In his address to thee the Third International Conference on Mediterranean Dialogues, Zarif also commented on a wide range of issues including Iraq's toppled dictator Saddam Hosseins attack on Iran with the support of certain countries, countries that supported Taliban, Al-Qaeda, al-Nusra and Daesh terrorist groups, keeping up bombing the Yemenis people, Irans presence in Syria upon the official request of the country, economic interaction in the post-sanctions era, and investment of the European, Chinese and Korean companies in Iran.

Zarif said that some believe they can buy security by purchasing weapons instead of interacting with their neighbors.

It will be in the interest of all to turn the Middle East to a safe placce for life in cooperation with each other, the top diplomat added.

He further noted that Saudi Arabia has rejected all options for ceasefire and peace in Syria and Yemen.
