November 30, The Iran Project - The Islamic Republic of Iran marks the National Navy Day on Nov. 28, commemorating the anniversary of the Operation Morvarid held by Iran on November 28-29, 1980 during Iran-Iraq War.
During the operation, the biggest Iraqi oil terminal was destroyed, paralyzing more than 50 percent of combat power of Iraqi Navy, while Iranian fleet suffered minor losses.

On this auspicious occasion, Iranian Navy revealed its new achievements in maritime industry, Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei received commanders and officials of Navy Forces of Iran's Army and President Hassan Rouhani lauded the Navy for its outstanding role in safeguarding the country and contributing to its might in international waters.

Iranian Navy unveiled its new achievements in maritime industry during a ceremony held in the Iranian capital in the presence of the second-in-command of the Iranian Army Brigadier General Mohammad Hossein Dadras.

The Navy's new products include the fuel for combustion engine used in torpedoes, the digital autopilot and the Persian Gulf training warship.

Producing fuel for combustion engine is a technology which had been monopolized by the US before Iran managed to indigenize it.

Meanwhile, Iran's Supreme Leader advised the country's Naval Forces to continue their efforts to increase their capabilities.

Describing Iran's Naval Forces as being at the forefront of defending the country in strategic regions such as Makran coastline, Gulf of Oman and high seas, the Leader said: �Good growth and momentum are being witnessed in the Navy, and the Naval Forces are far more advanced and capable than what they were 20 years ago.�

Saying that a higher level of advancement is expected for the forces, he advised them to �pursue the already accelerated movement in every sector, with a strong resolve, morale, will, innovation and action.�

Also in a message to mark �the National Navy Day, President Rouhani said the Navy of Islamic Republic of Iran is a powerful force for protecting the interests of the country and creating peace and stability in the highly critical region of the Persian Gulf.

President Rouhani underscored that the modern equipment, training, faith, endurance and prowess of our armed forces will guarantee the security of the country.
