Iran FM: No hindrance to developing Tehran-Yerevan ties
IRNA There is no obstacle to strengthening Tehran-Yerevan ties, visiting Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said in the Armenian capital on Tuesday.

Zarif made the remarks addressing Armenia-Iran Business Forum in Yerevan, adding that the two countries enjoy cordial relations.

Touching upon Iran-Armenia historical relations, Zarif expressed satisfaction over presence of Iranian-Armenian citizens in Iran 'who have always played an active role in the economic sectors and defending their motherland country.'

He underscored that the private sector is considered as the 'locomotive of the economy' for expanding mutual cooperation.

Touching upon the two countries relations in scientific, industrial, and agricultural areas, Zarif voiced the Iranian side readiness to cooperate with Armenian private sector in all fields, manufacturing generators for instance.

Pointing to the importance of energy sector, Zarif said the both sides could utilize the untapped potentials of free trade zones for boosting mutual cooperation.

He also underscored that the two sides are determined to eliminate the hindrance to the way of reinforcing mutual cooperation.

Zarif, heading a high-profile delegation, arrived in Yerevan on Tuesday morning in a visit upon an invitation by his Armenian counterpart Eduard Nalbandyan.

Before addressing the forum, Zarif held talks with Nalbandyan and reviewed issues of mutual interests and the latest regional and international developments.

Zarif is to hold meetings with Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan and also the Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan.
