Tehran-Moscow cooperation bolsters peace, sustainable stability in region

president.ir- President of the Islamic Republic of Iran described bilateral, regional and international relations and cooperation between Tehran and Moscow, especially in resolving crises and strengthening peace and sustainable regional stability, positive and growing, stressing development of ties and consultation in various fields.

Dr Hassan Rouhani met with the Russian President Vladimir Putin Wednesday evening on the margins of the tripartite summit of Iran, Russia and Turkey, and referred to the Sochi Summit saying: The summit is an important step in establishing sustainable peace and stability in Syria and the region.

The president emphasised the need for continued cooperation between Iran, Russia and Turkey in the direction of national sovereignty in Syria and the formation of the National Congress of Syrian Dialogue in Sochi.

Development of Russia-Iran relations will be in the interest of the region and will never be against any other country, he continued.

Referring to discussions of the leaders of the three countries on the holding of the Syria National Dialogue in Sochi, Dr Rouhani said: "This congress will be held as soon as possible and will lead to strengthening of stability in Syria, which is in the interest of all."

The president emphasised: Iran-Russia cooperation in resolving the crisis in Syria is a model for solving other regional problems.

Stating that Iran is ready to promote cooperation with Russia on peaceful nuclear activities, Dr Rouhani said: Violation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) is not in the interest of any of the negotiating parties. The Islamic Republic of Iran, as it has repeatedly stated, will never be the first one to violate it, but it will not remain silent about its violation.

The JCPOA is a multilateral and international agreement and its full implementation and consolidation by the parties is necessary and in the interests of all, continued the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Expressing concern about the situation in Yemen, he stressed the need to end the attacks and the killing of people, as well as providing humanitarian aid to the people of Yemen.

Vladimir Putin, President of the Russian Federation, also appreciated the active participation of Irans high-ranking officials at the tripartite summit of the presidents of Iran, Russia and Turkey in Sochi, saying: "Tehran-Moscow relations and cooperation will be developed on issues of interest to both countries.

"We need to increase our joint efforts to make progress on the political settlement of the Syrian crisis," said the Russian president, saying that today there are good opportunities for the development of full cooperation between Iran and Russia.

Putin welcomed the continuation of peaceful nuclear cooperation, referring to the need to consolidate and fully implement the JCPOA, and said: "The JCPOA is an important international agreement and its violation by a government is unacceptable for us".

The Iranian and Russian presidents also emphasised the need for the efforts of the two countries' authorities to accelerate the draft of the legal regime of the Caspian Sea.
