IRNA � President Hassan Rouhani said here on Wednesday that Islamic Republic of Iran supports Syria's sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity.


President Rouhani made the remarks prior to his departure for Russia to attend the tripartite summit of Iran, Russia and Turkey to be held in the Russian Black Sea resort of Sochi today (Nov 22).

The president added that the Iranian government is committed to maintain peace in the region.

President Rouhani said that Iran is after 'negotiations not confrontation', adding that
terrorist activities and foreign meddling would be defeated in the region.

He stressed that the Islamic Republic of Iran would continue its counter-terrorism efforts until the full elimination of terrorism in the region.

According to Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, the presidents of Russia, Iran and Turkey will meet on November 22 at the trilateral summit in Sochi, where they will discuss 'the entire Syrian agenda.�
