Iran’s top commander arrived in Russia for tripartite meeting

IRNA – Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Major General Mohammad Baqeri arrived in Sochi, southwest Russia, on Monday night to take part in a tripartite meeting with his Russian and Turkish counterparts.

According to the Public Relations Department of General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran, the three commanders are to discuss the latest situation of campaign against terrorism in Syria and adopting common approach for keeping up purging terrorist and Takfiri groups and restore sustainable security and stability to the Syrian.

Upon his arrival in Sochi, Baqeri was welcomed by Iran’s Ambassador to Russia Mehdi Sanaei and commander of southwestern military forces, General Romanchuk.

The trilateral meeting of the three countries’ chiefs of staff of armed forces will serve as a prelude to the presidential meeting of the trio on Wednesday.
