Deputy FM: Syria peace talks prioritized in Iran's foreign policy

FNA- Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Hossein Jaberi Ansari underlined the importance of Astana talks and efforts to establish peace and stability in Syria as one of the country's prioritized foreign policies.

"At present, the Astana and Syria issue is one of the foreign ministry's priorities, and relations with the Arab Asian countries have expanded to this end," Jaberi Ansari said on Sunday.

He, meantime, stressed that Iran's foreign policy has always focused on development of ties with other world states, and said, "We are trying to consider economic capacities in ties with all countries and activate them and expand political activities and multilateral relations with them alongside."

In relevant remarks in January, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani underlined that the peace talks to resolve the crisis in the war-hit Syria should be pursued seriously.

"First, we should endeavor to maintain the ceasefire and dont allow the fire of war to flare again," President Rouhani said in a press conference in Tehran.

He also underscored the need for holding real and serious talks in Astana to resolve the crisis in Syria.

Stressing Iran, Russia and Turkey's intensified efforts on the threshold of Astana talks, President Rouhani said, "No one is allowed to decide for the Syrian people on who, how and which government should rule Syria in future, and an atmosphere of peace and stability as well as the conditions for holding elections should be prepared."

"Every one should accept whatever the Syrian people vote for," he emphasized.
