IFP- Iranian delegation to Astana Talks, headed by Deputy Foreign Minister Hossein Jaberi Ansari, has held talks with Russian and Syrian delegations on the latest developments in the war-hit Arab country.
Jaberi Ansari on Monday held talks with the Russian delegation headed by President Vladimir Putin’s special envoy for Syria, Alexander Lavrentiev.
During the talks, the two sides discussed the latest political and field developments in Syria and exchanged views on the Syrian-Syrian dialogue to resolve the Arab country’s crisis through peaceful ways.
The Iranian diplomat also met the Syrian delegation led by the Arab country’s UN Envoy Bashar al-Jaafari. During the talks, the two sides discussed the latest field developments, especially monitoring the adoption of de-escalating measures.
They also exchanged views on the documents and agenda of the 7th meeting of International Syria Conference in Astana.
The seventh round of Syria peace talks is underway in the Kazakh capital. On Sunday the participants held some initial meetings. The negotiations will continue at the level of experts and high-ranking officials.
Syria has been gripped by civil war since March 2011 with various terrorist groups, including ISIS still controlling parts of it.
In the meantime, Tehran and Moscow have remained a close ally of Damascus and support its legitimate government in the face of foreign-backed militancy.
Tehran says the Syrian nation is the only side that has the right to shape the future of its own country, rejecting foreign intervention with the use of force.
