Iran urges nuclear disarmament

IRNA – Iran’s permanent representative to the United Nations on behalf of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) urged disarming the nuclear-armed states.

Gholamali Khoshroo, addressing a meeting of the UN General Assembly to consider annual report of the International Court of Justice (ICJ) on Thursday, said that the ICJ is playing a crucial role in peaceful alleviation and resolution of the disputes.

NAM is calling the UN institutions to consult the Court in their legal issues, said the Iranian envoy.

Referring to the ICJ consultative vote on the illegitimacy of any threat or use of nuclear weapons, he urged disarming the states that possess nuclear weapons.

He also urged putting an end to the occupation of Palestinian territories in line with the consultative vote of the legal body.
