Pres. Rouhani: Nobody entitled to comment on Iran military might

IRNA Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said on Monday that nobody has the right to comment on Iran's military power.

'Nobody is entitled to comment on Iran's military might as its development is based on the country's Constitution and defense doctrine,' President Rouhani said at a local gathering held in the Iranian capital this morning.

'Iran's military power is aimed at countering threats and aggressions, therefore, it should have a deterrent nature,' he said.

The President further described Iran's presence in the region as a 'forward escape' approach.

Referring to the unfair sanctions against Iran, the President also said that the sanctions are tantamount to cruelty towards the Iranian people.

'While our cities were under air attacks by Saddam's regime, did you provide Iran with air defense systems?' the President asked, referring to Iraq's imposed war on Iran in 1980-88.

Iran is still facing new sanctions, primarily planned and imposed by the United States, for its peaceful nuclear activities ratified at least eight times by the United Nations nuclear watchdog, the IAEA.

The White House has not been committed to the July 2015 nuclear deal between Iran and the major world powers, and President Donald Trump has decertified the International accord, also known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), preparing ground for putting more pressures on Iran.
