Zarif presents plaque of honor to holy shrine martyr family

IRNA Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif on Tuesday presented a letter of appreciation and a plaque of honor to the bereaved family of Iranian military advisor Mohsen Hojjaji who was beheaded by the Daesh terrorist group in August in Syria.

In a local ceremony attended by family of martyr Hojjaji, Zarif commended the sacrifices of the Iranian military advisors, known in Iran as defenders of holy shrines.

Zarif in his letter of appreciation stressed that Hojjaji sacrificed his life to protect dignity of Iran and Islam.
'The martyrdom of Hojjaji was a very sad and bitter incident, but it is true evidence to the rightness of the Islamic Republic relentless war against the Takfiri terrorists,' the letter read.

Following a US strike against the Iraqi Popular Mobilization Forces (Hashd al-Shaabi), Daesh (ISIS) seized the opportunity to attack the Syrian troops deployed in the borders with Iraq in which Hojjaji was taken hostage by the terrorist group and beheaded later on camera.
