Speaker: US sympathy for Iran shocking
IRNA Parliament Speaker said on Sunday that it is astonishing that the US president with a dark background is now sympathizing with Iranians and it is regretting that they are accusing IRGC to support terrorism.


Larijani made the remarks addressing the general session of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) in St. Petersburg on Sunday.

The 137th inter-Parliamentary Union meeting kicked off on Saturday evening with participation of parliamentary delegation from 171 states, including Iran, in the city of Saint Petersburg.

Larijani in his speech on Sunday said that situations created by the US would not help to strengthen cultural diversity and peace through dialogue among religions and ethnics, but created disappointing atmosphere.

The speaker pointed to the US anti-Iran moves since 1953 and Coup d'tat against Iran's democratic government and then different conspiracies against Iran in different periods of time and when they failed, the us persuaded Saddam Regime to invade Iran and impose 8-year war.

The US fired missile at an Iranian passenger plane and killed all passengers and now its president is sympathizing with Iranians.

As the former secretary of state of the US declared ISIS was created by Washington and Trump also pointed to the issue during his election propaganda.

Ali Larijani, heading a delegation, arrived in Saint Petersburg to attend the 137th meeting of Inter-Parliamentary Union.

He met with two of his Russian counterparts on Friday; State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin and Head of Russian Federation Council Valentina Matviyenko and in this meetings Iran's Ambassador to Moscow Mehdi Sanaei was present.

More than 100 parliament's speakers and around 70 deputy speakers attended 5-day meeting in Saint Petersburg.

Strengthening parliamentary cooperation, fight against terrorism, confrontation against security challenges and economic, financial issues, human rights and democracy are on agenda of the meeting.
