Iran: US decertifying of JCPOA to discredit US

IRNA - Irans Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the United Nations Gholamali Khoshroo underlined that the United States could not be a player and a referee at the same time, and said the US exit from the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) will result in Washington's lack of credibility.

'The United States is only one of the parties to Iran's nuclear agreement with the Group 5+1 (the US, Russia, China, France and Britain plus Germany); all countries except the United States have confirmed Iran is fulfilling its obligations, the country (the US) wants to get out of the deal; this is the truth,' Khoshroo said in an interview with the US Cable News Network (CNN) on Wednesday night.

He reiterated if the US fails to remain committed to the landmark nuclear deal neither Iran nor any other country will trust it.

Khoshroo stressed that Iran has its own democracy, but the problem is that the United States and its allies do not want to see a democratic Iran, and Trump's government, on the other hand, sells weapons to those who are neither democratic nor peaceful.

The US government created a lot of chaos in our region, the results of which are just destruction, instability and the lack of security, Khoshroo noted.

The Iranian ambassador noted that Trump had promised the Americans not to take any action in the region, which would be catastrophic and costly, and said, 'We hope that he would keep his promise and would not interfere in the domestic affairs of our region.'
