IRGC Quds Force Commander praises Jalal Talabani personality

IRNA – Commander of the Quds Force of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Major General Qasem Soleimani expressed condolences over the death of ex-President of Iraq Jalal Talabani and he praised his personality.

In his message released on Tuesday, Soleimani said the current crisis of Iraqi Kurdistan Region is the result of the power vacuum created due to the demise of Talabani.

Jalal Talabani, who also served as president of Iraq from 2005 to 2014, passed away on Tuesday in Berlin and was buried in Sulaymaniyah on Friday.

Talabani was the founder and secretary general of one of the main Kurdish political parties, the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK). He was a prominent member of the Interim Iraq Governing Council, which was established following the overthrow of Saddam Hussein in the 2003 invasion of Iraq. Talabani was an advocate of Kurdish rights and democracy in Iraq for more than 50 years.
