Zarif: People’s vigilance foils war, sanctions, foreign pressures

IRNA – People turnout has foiled war, sanction and all foreign pressures, Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said on Monday.

Zarif made the remarks in a ceremony in Tehran today.

He pointed to the spiritual power as one of the most important aspects of the Islamic revolution in Iran.

Zarif also referred to the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) Commander Major General Mohammad Ali Jafari’s recent remarks on the US sanctions who said Iran is so powerful in the region and the world, saying this power is nothing but self-reliance and independence-seeking.

‘We will take advantage of the ridiculous treatment of Iran’s nuclear deal by Donald Trump administration to leapfrog our defensive, missile and regional goals,’ Jafari earlier said.

‘If reports on the US decision to enlist Iran’s IRGC as a terrorist group happen to be true, the Iranian force would also treat the American Army everywhere in the world and especially in the Middle East in the same way it deals with Daesh (ISIS) terrorists,’ he said.

The IRGC commander also said that imposition of new sanctions by the US is going to kill the chances of any future engagements forever.
