Press TV - Syrian army soldiers and allied fighters from popular defense groups, supported by Russian military aircraft, have marched into a town controlled by members of Daesh Takfiri terrorist group in the countrys troubled eastern province of Dayr al-Zawr as they continue to make territorial gains against the militants.
With support from Russian aviation, government forces entered Mayadin and took control of several buildings in the western flank of the town, located about 44 kilometers southeast ofthe provincial capital city of Dayr al-Zawr, Rami Abdel Rahman, the head of the so-called Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR), said on Friday.
The development came shortly after Syrias official news agency reported that Syrian government forces and their allies had carried out major offensives against Daesh Takfiris across Dayr al-Zawr Province, inflicting heavy losses on the militants ranks and military hardware.
Syrian army units destroyed an arms depot, a communications headquarters, a command center and several vehicles equipped with heavy machine guns in the town of Mayadin.
With support from Syrian Air Force fighter jets, government troops pounded the positions of Daesh terrorists in the towns of Mayadin, al-Muhasan, al-Boleel, al-Hussainiyah, al-Junaynah, al-Tayyebah and Saker Island in addition to Sheikh Yassin, al-Jubailah and al-Rashidiyah neighborhoods.
Daesh militants driven out of 91% of Syrian territory
Meanwhile, the official newspaper ofthe RussianMinistry of Defense says Syrian army soldiers and allied fighter from popular defense groups have managed to purge Daesh Takfiri terrorists from over 91 percent ofthe countrys territory.
The Russian-language Krasnaya Zvezda newspaper published an infographic on Friday, which showed that 91.6 percent ofthe Syrian soil is now free from the presence of Daesh Takfiris.

(Photo by AFP)[/caption]The SOHR reported on Wednesday that Syrian army soldiers and allied fighters had flushed Daesh Takfiri militants out of their last positions in the western-central province of Hama.
The Britain-based monitoring group said Daesh terrorists were no longer present anywhere in the provincefor the first time in three years.
The observatory's director, Rami Abdel Rahman, said government forces had managed to take control of all the last remaining villages in the hands of Daesh in Hama province after more than a month of fierce clashes between the two sides.
