Bashar al-Assad: Damascus never to forget Iran's supports, devotions

IRNA Syrian President Bashar al-Assad said on Thursday that his country will never forget the devotions and supports rendered by the Islamic Republic of Iran in difficult times.


Syrian president made the remarks in a meeting with Head of Iranian Parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Alaeddin Boroujerdi in Damascus on Thursday.

'The bloods of the Iranian martyrs shed in Syria will be regarded as an invaluable asset for future cooperation as well as bolstering brotherly and friendly ties between the two countries,' the Syrian president said.

By the time terrorism is being suppressed in the region by the resistance axis, the other side does its utmost through spreading disorders and misuse of terrorism to protect its interests, he added.

President Assad reiterated that resistance axis should expand its political measures in the fight against terrorism and expansionism policies, and said, 'Recent developments in the region will benefit the resistance axis.'

The Syrian president also called for the expansion of economic cooperation among countries attributed to the axis of resistance axis.

During the meeting, the two sides also examined polling in the Iraqi Kurdistan region and ruled out any measures which might harm that country's territorial integrity and sovereignty.

They also called for more unity among regional nations in the fight against potential threats such as terrorism.
