FM: Iran not seeking regional discord

IRNA Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif says Iran has never been after discord in the region.

Talking to reporters upon arrival in Tehran after a two-day visit to Oman and Qatar, Zarif said Iran's policy is based on peace and dialogue.

'Our policy has always been based on the fact that our region is in need of tranquility and dialogue,' he said, adding, 'Our region is in need of a system for cooperation and dialogue for the sake of security in the region. We have repeatedly raised the proposal of the system of dialogue in the Persian Gulf and unfortunately, it has not been taken by certain countries that consider their future lying in tension, pressure and imposing neighbors.'

Zarif further asserted that 'we hope that the countries will soon accept the logic of dialogue and the need for understanding and cooperation and the need to stop dreaming imposition of their views on others'.

The Iranian foreign minister said that that time, there will be definitely the possibility for more extensive dialogue.

'The Islamic Republic of Iran has always been insisting on understanding and solving problems and has never been interested in deepening differences because does not consider it in line with our interests,' Zarif said.

'As we announced in the beginning of the 12th government, while facilitating economic, international cooperation in line with resistive economy, relations with the neighbors will be one of the two super priorities of foreign policy.'

And this time like the 11th government, 'we have started three moves with the region'.

This visit was besides that to the UN General Assembly as a periodic visit is made every year.
