Iran border guard abducted by terrorists is alive: Cmdr


IRNA - Iranian Border Guard Commander Brigadier General Qasem Rezaei said the Iranian soldier adducted following a terrorist attack in the southeastern province of Sistan-and-Baluchestan a couple of months ago, is alive.


We are still pursuing the case and trying to know the whereabouts of the missing Iranian soldier who was abducted late in April, General Rezaei told the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) on Monday.

'We have obtained information via intelligence services, the Islamic Republic Foreign Ministry and tribal communities in the region living on both sides of the common border with Pakistan in eastern Chahand cross-border region and Mirjaveh in Sistan and Baluchestan province,' the commander added.

He also expressed hope that the Pakistani government and officials cooperate with Iran to help safe return of the Iranian soldier to the country.

The commander also stressed that the Iranian officials in Islamabad also has held several meetings with the prosecutor general of Pakistan to raise the issue of the missing border guard.
