IRNA � The meeting of Iran's nuclear deal Joint Commission on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly is likely, but not fixed yet, Iranian ambassador to the United Nations said on Friday.

The 72nd UN General Assembly will be held Sep 19-25 with the world heads of states, including Iran's President Hassan Rouhani and its Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, attending the meeting.

Answering a question on the probability of holding the Joint Commission of the nuclear deal on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly, Iran's Ambassador to the UN Gholamali Khoshroo told Iranian reporters that the Commission has always been held during visits of the Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif to the General Assembly since foreign ministers of other signatories to the landmark nuclear deal are also present at the UN meeting.

For this year, High Representative of the European Union Federica Mogherini has suggested to hold the JCPOA Joint Commission meeting on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly, but it has not been fixed yet, Khoshroo said.

Iran and the five permanent members of the UN Security Council�US, Britain, France, Russia and China�plus Germany signed a historic nuclear agreement in 2015, also known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

The deal's Joint Commission is in charge of overseeing its implementation. The 8th meeting of the JCPOA Commission was held in Vienna on July 21, 2017.

According to Khoshroo, the JCPOA meeting at a lower level would certainly be held on the sidelines of the UN Assembly meeting.

President Rouhani is to address the Assembly on Iran's active participation in the international arena, and Iranian people's expectations from the United Nations, Khoshroo added.

He said that other major topics to be discussed by President Rouhani at his UN speech included, the use of diplomacy instead of exerting any kind of force or pressure by imposing sanctions, focusing on regional issues including terrorism, extremism, and violence, as well as Iran's role in curbing the violence and addressing the threats.

Pointing to 'Iran's cooperation on international arena, especially economic and diplomatic-economic cooperation,' Khoshroo said that the JCPOA and Iran's compliance with the deal will be highlighted in President Rouhani's speech, and he would ask all other parties to the deal to remain committed to their obligations.

'Iran will respond to every instance of other parties' disloyalty to the deal proportionate to the case, and will warn the international community of the repercussions of such behaviors,' Khoshroo said.
