Iran, Pakistan agree to strengthen shared borders

MNA According to Border Guard Commander Ghasem Rezaee, Iran and Pakistan have strengthened border security following the recent talks with Pakistan authorities in the past two months.


Concerning the measures taken by Pakistan's authorities to improve eastern borders security, General Ghasem Rezaeisaid we have some security issues on our borders with Pakistan which I discussed with the authorities of the country during my recent trip there.

Following the discussions, the border security between Iran and Pakistan has been enhanced, Rezaei added, urgingthe authorities of Pakistan to cooperate with Iran in controlling and monitoringtheir shared borders since they are Irans most costly borders with a neighboring country.

We expect the government of Pakistan to concentrate on our shared borders even more than before and to increase the number of military units assigned to this area," he stressed.

Rezaei went on to note that in the past years terrorist groups have attacked the region, kidnapped several of Iranians and buried them across the border in the Pakistan soil. He called for the return ofthe bodiesof the martyrs totheir families.

Rezaei highlighted the promising relations and communications with Pakistan officialsin the past few months, adding"a delegation from Pakistan is expected to travel to Iran in the near future so that the respective officials can discuss issues related to border securitybetween the two countries."
