Iran criticizes world silence towards crimes against Muslims in Myanmar

IRNA Iranian vice president on Saturday criticized the international community silence towards atrocities against Muslims in Myanmar.

'Double standards are the most prevalent challenge that human rights advocacy faces today. Why silence before crimes against Rohingya Muslims?,' Iranian Vice President on Women and Family Affairs Massumeh Ebtekar said in a message released in her twitter account.

The Iranian vice president made the remarks in reaction to the Myanmar Leader Aung San Suu Kyi comments that has blamed terrorists for a huge iceberg of misinformation about violence in western Myanmar.

More than a quarter of a million mostly Rohingya refugees have fled from Myanmar into Bangladesh, the United Nations said on Thursday (Sep 7), as bodies washed up after boats sank attempting to cross the river that divides the countries.

In the last two weeks alone 164,000 mostly Rohingya civilians have fled to Bangladesh, overwhelming refugee camps that were already bursting at the seams.
