IRNA – President Hassan Rouhani in a message congratulated Major General Abdolrahim Mousavi on his appointment as new Iranian army commander-in-chief.
‘I hope, the Armed Forces’ deterrence and defensive power, in particular the Army, will be boosted in your tenure,’ the President added in a message released on Tuesday.
Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif has also congratulated General Mousavi on his appointment in a separate message released on Tuesday.
Iran Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei on Monday appointed General Mousavi as new Iranian army commander.
General Mousavi was deputy chief of staff of the Iranian Armed Forces prior to his appointment.
Meanwhile, Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution in another decree appointed Major General Ataollah Salehi as deputy chief of staff of the Iranian Armed Forces.
General Salehi was commander of Iranian Army prior to his appointment.
