FNA- Deputy Chief of Staff of Iran’s Armed Forces Brigadier General Massoud Jazzayeri announced that his country has started contacts with certain states to uproot terrorism in West Asia.
“The Islamic Republic of Iran is trying to uproot terrorism completely in the region in cooperation with other West Asian states; therefore, it has started contacts with the countries which herald establishment of tranquility in the sensitive West Asia region,” Jazzayeri said on Wednesday.
He referred to the recent visit by Chief of Staff of Iran’s Armed Forces Major General Mohammad Hossein Baqeri to Turkey, and said, “The Islamic Republic of Iran has proved so far that it is serious against the terrorists and their supporters in the region and confronts them, and this visit has been made in line with this policy.”
“Undoubtedly, we are against the presence of terrorist groups in other countries and (across our) borders and confront them similar to the past,” Jazzayeri said.
General Baqeri started a three-day visit to Ankara last week heading a high-ranking politico-military delegation.
He said his trip was aimed at discussing enhanced cooperation on military and regional issues. Top Iranian and Turkish military chiefs in a meeting in Ankara discussed ways to improve the two countries’ security, particularly in border areas, and continue the fight against terrorism.
