We wont let US force Iran to kill nuclear deal: Zarif

MNA Foreign Minister Zarif stressed that Iran will make every effort to protect the nuclear deal and prevent US from violating the accord by putting the blame on the Islamic Republic.

Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif made the remark to IRIB Monday night, noting the measures that the Islamic Republic has predicted in order to preserve the nuclear deal as well as reciprocate any violations and lack of commitment from the US.

The first measure has been predicted in the letter of the accord itself, Zarif said, adding no side to the deal trusted the other, especially Iran toward the US, therefore the letter of the nuclear deal has been written based on mutual distrust.

He went on to add, the other measure is that Iran has many options on the table, and it was imperative that the other side was aware of it as well. We have made the necessary considerations to preserve our nuclear capabilities and preparedness and are ready to return to an even more advanced conditions in the field of nuclear energy [if US breaks away from the deal].

The only time the US can actually win over the international community is when it can prove Iran as the one undermining the nuclear deal, and Irans chances of success are only when we can show the international community that we have remained committed to the JCPOA despite having several other options available, Zarif said.

We will stay committed to the nuclear deal as long as it serves our national interests, he stressed.

The Iranian diplomat went on to note, this approach nullifies US attempts at turning the global consensus against Iran, and instead allows us to turn the tables on US. You can see that right at the peak of US anti-Iran remarks, we were signing contracts with Total, Renault, and other major companies are in line to make deals with Iran.

The US, by confirming Irans commitment to the JCPOA twice, has accepted the fact that it will be isolated from other countries in the world if it doesnt, he said.
