4th day of debate on President Rouhani's proposed ministers starts

IRNA The fourth day of Majlis (Iran's Parliament) open session to discuss plans of President Hassan Rouhani's proposed ministers started here on Saturday.


Today's session continues with debates on the proposed Minister of Roads and Urban Development Abbas Akhoundi that had started on Thursday.

Until Thursday noon, 61 MPs had spoken in favor of Rouhani's proposed ministers, and 11 in opposition of them; and the proposed misters defended their plans.

Six proposed ministers are yet to be debated. The remaining ministers are ministers of Industries and Business, Culture and Islamic Guidance, Interior, Petroleum, Energy, and Youth Affairs and Sports.

If the session can't cover all the above-mentioned proposed ministers, it will go on tomorrow.

The following ministers have been debated so far: Agriculture Jihad; Cooperatives, Labor, and Social Welfare; Defense and Armed Forces Logistics; Economic Affairs and Finance; Education; Foreign Affairs; Health and Medical Education; Communications and Information Technology; Intelligence; Justice; and Roads and Urban Development.

Rouhani was re-elected as the president for a second term after winning a landmark victory on May 19.

President Rouhani took office on August 5. Then, he proposed 17 out of 18 nominees for ministerial posts of his cabinet.

The proposed ministers are alphabetically being debated at Majlis sessions.

The final vote of cofidence for the cabinet will most probably be cast in Majlis on Sunday.
