Sputnik News- Relations between Moscow and Tehran comply with international obligations, and Russia will continue to act in such manner, a source in the Russian Foreign Ministry told Sputnik on Tuesday, commenting on media reports about offensive weapons allegedly sent by Iran to Russia for maintenance.

On Sunday, the Welt am Sonntag newspaper reported citing anonymous sources inWestern intelligence services thatIranhad secretly sent components ofheavy offensive weapons toRussia formaintenance ina violation ofthe UN Security Council Resolution 2231. The newspaper claimed that Iranian planes landed atthe Russian Hmeymim airbase inSyria inJune, allegedly carrying military cargo. The cargo was then supposedly transported tothe Syrian port city ofTartus and taken tothe Russian city ofNovorossiysk ona transport ship.
"The problems withthe perception ofwhat is happening inour relations withIran are not fromthe Russian side, ofcourse, because we are acting and will always act strictly inaccordance withour international obligations. And these problems are ofthose anti-Russia media outlets who are simply looking forpretexts tofurther complicate the already extremely heavy gloomy background ofthe perception ofwhat is happening inboth Russia's dialogue withWestern Europe and inrelations betweenthe West asa whole and Russia," the source said.

Moscow-Tehran relations are being turned intoa bargaining chip, which is inappropriately used bythe authors ofsuch publications, the source pointed out.
