Iran judiciary chief lauds new law to counteract US hostilities

Tasnim Iranian Judiciary Chief Ayatollah Sadeq Amoli Larijani praised an anti-US law approved by the parliament on Sunday and said it proved that all Iranian officials are resolved to stand against Washingtons hostile moves.

Speaking at a meeting with high-ranking judicial officials in Tehran on Monday, Ayatollah Amoli Larijani described the legislation as commendable and said the move has both real and symbolic aspects.

Among the real actions in this legislation, which should be enforced if approved by the Guardian Council, is (requiring) the judiciary to allocate some court branches to deal with claims arising from American sanctions and adventurist moves, he said.

Referring to the symbolic aspect, he said the law proved that all of the Islamic Republics institutions and branches of the government are acting in unison to counter the hostile policies of the US.

The Iranian Parliament on Sunday ratified a motion on countering US adventurous and terrorist measures in the region.

The 27-article draft was endorsed after it was brought forward in the Parliament by the National Security and Foreign Policy Commission in July.

It came after the US House of Representatives and then the Senate passed a sweeping package of bills on sanctions against Iran, Russia, and North Korea. The US legislation would impose mandatory penalties on people involved in Iran's ballistic missile program and anyone who does business with them.

According to the Iranian parliamentary bill, Irans Foreign Ministry, Defense Ministry, and Intelligence Ministry, the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), IRGC Quds Force, and Army should work in coordination with the Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) to prepare regular reports about the comprehensive measures they take to counter US threats and its hegemonic, terrorist and divisive policies across the region.

It has also imposed sanctions against a series of organizations, entities and individuals, including the US military and security officials who have had a role in providing military, financial and intelligence support for terrorist and extremist groups in the region.

Moreover, the law has devised plans to counter the US economic sanctions, calling for closer trade interaction with the countries working with Iran under the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), a nuclear agreement between Iran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany).
