president.ir- Tehran-Madrid relations have always been friendly and after the implementation of the JCPOA, there is better condition for developing economic ties between Iran and European countries, including Spain, said President Rouhani in a meeting with the President of the Senate of Spain, Pío García-Escudero Márquez.
In the meeting that was held on Sunday, Dr Rouhani also said: “The European Union played an effective role in the implementation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) and has taken acceptable stances for protecting it, despite US obstructions”.
“In the first step, the JCPOA eliminated the incorrect image and illusion that Iran had been secretly trying to develop atomic bombs; and in the second step, it lifted unjust sanctions that were against human rights and international rules and regulations,” continued Rouhani.
He also said: “JCPOA removed these obstacles and this is why we consider it a win-win agreement. JCPOA created a good base for developing Iran’s relations with friend countries”.
Stating that Iran and Spain must make the best use of the opportunities provided by the JCPOA to benefit both nations, he said: “Spain has good opportunities to cooperate with Iran in various fields of industry, transportation and energy, as well as tourism and make investment”.
At the same meeting, the President of the Senate of Spain, Pío García-Escudero Márquez also delivered the Spanish king’s message of congratulations over Dr Rouhani re-election and said: “The result of recent elections in Iran indicates that your work and policies, as well as your moderate policy in the past four years have been fruitful”.
“Iran and Spain are two countries with ancient history and have had effective roles in the formation of civilisation around the globe. Iran and Spain have always been close,” he said.
He also added: “Be sure that Spain and the European Union support your policies and cooperation with Iran, considering it beneficial to the entire region”.
