President Rouhanis swearing-in ceremony begins

Press TV- The swearing-in ceremony of Irans President Hassan Rouhani has started in the Iranian capital in the presence of the countrys high-ranking officials as well as leaders and senior politicians from around the world.

The inauguration ceremony openedat the Parliamentbuilding in Tehran on Saturday withdelegates from more than 100 countries, including several heads of state, partaking in it.

Foreign delegations have reached the Iranian capital over the past two days to attend the inauguration ceremony of President Hassan Rouhani.
Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani and Judiciary chief Ayatollah Sadeq Amoli Larijani were scheduled to give separate speeches at the ceremony. Rouhani will then take the oath of office.

Rouhani won re-election in a landslide victory in May after securing 57 percent of the votes and defeating his main contender Ebrahim Raeisi, the current custodian of the Holy Shrine of Imam Reza (PBUH).

On Thursday, Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei formally endorsed Rouhani as president for the second term.

Ayatollah Khamenei gives his official approval to President-elect Hassan Rouhani during a ceremony in Tehran.
During the ceremony, Ayatollah Khamenei gave his official approval for the president-elect by giving him a decree assigninghim his duties.

Under Irans election law, the president-elect is required to gain the Leaders official approval before being sworn in before the Parliament. Through this process, called Tanfiz (endorsement), the Leader approvesthe outcome of the presidential election.

Rouhani will have two weeks to present his cabinet to the Parliament for a vote of confidence.
