IRNA – Spokesman for the Foreign Ministry Bahram Qasemi said here on Friday that Foreign Minister Mohammad-Javad Zarif has no plan to attend this year Hajj rituals.
Talking to IRNA, Qasemi dismissed recent media reports over Zarif’s plan to attend Hajj rituals as ‘baseless’.
The reports over the possibility of Zarif taking part in Hajj rituals were published after the Iranian foreign minister and his Saudi counterpart Adel al-Jubeir shook hands on the sidelines of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) meeting in Istanbul.
On Aug 2, Iran’s foreign minister elaborated on his handshake with his Saudi counterpart, calling it a ‘natural’ move in international diplomatic meetings. He also stressed on good ties with neighbors as Iran’s priority.
