Iran to take due actions against US nuclear deal defaults: Official

IRNA The supervising board monitoring implementation of Iran nuclear deal, known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, has devised a series of measures to confront the US defaults regarding its JCPOA commitments, says an official.

The measures will be adopted by the Islamic Republic of Iran in parallel with the lack of commitments by the United States, Ali Shamkhani Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council told IRNA on Wednesday.

'Only by relying on the national power and capabilities we will manage to ward off the US arrogant policies,' Shamkhani said.

The JCPOA has no effect on the US hostility towards the Iranian people, said he.

'The US foreign policy, by nature, follows to put pressure on other nations to humiliate them and make them obedient,' he added.

Referring to new US sanctions against Iran, Shamkhani said that by imposing ban on Iranian individuals and companies, Washington is not going to prevent further development of the Islamic Republic.

US is after withdrawing from the international nuclear deal between Tehran and the major world powers at Iran's expense, but Tehran will not give Washington the chance to do so, noted the secretary of the Supreme National Security Council.

'This does not mean that Iran will preserve the JCPOA at any cost,' Shamkhani stressed.

He further underlined that the value of the international deal depends on all sides to respect and implement it in line with the same interests for all.

About violation of the JCPOA by the US, Shamkhani said that the other five countries involved in the deal are against Washington's policies.

Iran and the six world powers- US, UK, France, Russia, China and Germany- reached a landmark nuclear agreement known as the JCPOA on July 14, 2015.

Turning to Iran's defense capability, the official said that developing the country's defense power particularly its conventional missile program is a nonnegotiable issue and is also Iran's absolute right.

Iran's missile power is completely indigenous and is proportionate to potential threats faced by the country, Shamkhani noted stressing that the Islamic Republic's armed forces are at the highest level of readiness to respond to any moves threatening its national security.
