Sputnik - Iran, Russia and Turkey are doing their utmost in order to solve the Syrian crisis, Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs Hossein Ansari said Tuesday.




MOSCOW (Sputnik) According toAnsari, when addressing the Syrian crisis duringthe Astana talks, the three countries are discussing a number ofissues, including security and efficient fight againstterrorism, the need forprompt political settlement ofthe Syrian crisis and humanitarian aid torefugees aswell astheir return tohomes.
"Within the framework ofAstana format we, I mean, Iran, Russia and Turkey, are surely making efforts inorder tofind the best solution forthe issues mentioned before," Ansari said.


On Tuesday, Ansari headed toMoscow tomeet withwith Russian Deputy Defense Minister Alexander Fomin, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov and Russia's Special Presidential Envoy forSyria Alexander Lavrentyev todiscuss the situation inSyria. Expert talks onthe results ofthe fifth roundof Astana talks onthe Syrian settlement will take place inTehran onTuesday and Wednesday. Three Syrian ceasefire guarantor states, Russia, Turkey and Iran, are set toopen a meeting ofjoint working group tocontinue delineation ofde-escalation zones inSyria onTuesday.

So far, five rounds ofSyria settlement talks have taken place inKazakhstan's capital city ofAstana sinceJanuary. Russia, Turkey, Iran, the United States, the United Nations, Syrian government representatives and the Syrian opposition participate inthe negotiation process. In May, the participants ofthe talks inAstana agreed onestablishing four safe zones inSyria aspart ofthe de-escalation process.

The sixth roundof talks is scheduled forthe end ofAugust, however, media reported earlier inthe day that it could take place inthe middle ofthe month. The Kazakh Foreign Ministry said that it could not confirm the change ofdate.
