FNA- Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and his Turkish counterpart Mevlut Cavusoglu in a meeting in Istanbul discussed the latest developments in the region, specially Syria, and underlined the necessity for reinvigorating the trend of Astana talks.

The meeting was held on the sidelines of an extraordinary meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) on the Palestinian issue in Istanbul on Tuesday.

During the meeting, Zarif and Cavusoglu also conferred on bilateral ties and efforts to enhance trade relations between the two countries to $30bln.

The 5th round of talks between the Syrian government and opposition was held in Kazakhstans capital, with Iran, Russia, and Turkey as mediators.
